The Mayor of Bridgeport Illinois has been indicted on federal charges, along with a Vincennes man.
56 year old Max R. Schauf is the current mayor of the Lawrence County town, and is accused of defrauding the city by submitting fraudulent invoices, contracts and bills for services and equipment, and then taking a portion of that money for personal use.
62 year old Paul R. Kramer of Vincennes is accused of making false statements to investigators during the investigation.
The mayor could get 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts, and Kramer could get five.
