I69 Open to Traffic  E-mail

Traffic fairly heavy Monday evening as folks try out the new pavement on I-69.
The 67 mile stretch of highway from was the longest contiguous interstate construction project in the country - until Monday when Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels cut the ribbon to officially open it to traffic.
8th District U.S. Congressman Larry Bucshon says the link will greatly boost economic opportunities for the entire corridor. He says they‘re already working on financing for the span from Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center to I-37 at Bloomington. Beyond that, Bucshon says it‘ll be up to federal and local officials to finance the rest and he‘s optimistic that they will succeed.
