Ameren Wants to Flip Switch In Illinois  E-mail

An electric supplier that serves nearly three fourths of the state of Illinois is looking for a way to shut itself down.
Ameren Illinois says they're not making enough money - even though just three months ago they were granted an extension to meet environmental regulations and are considering a plant to simply shut down all of it's generating plants in Illinois.
Ameren says it's taking a 2 billion dollar charge for fourth quarter business this year, with a total loss on the books for 2012 of nearly 300 million dollars.
