The Department of Workforce Development says unemployment in November held steady. The figure for last month was 8 percent - same as the unemployment rate in Indiana for October. Workforce development officials say private sector jobs contracted by 9,800 in November, mainly due to losses in the seasonally-volatile construction industry - but over the past year the Hoosier State has experience one of the strongest periods of private sector job growth in more than a decade. In southwest Indiana unemployment last month all lower than the state rate with the following numbers: Vanderburgh County 7.2 percent, Warrick 6.6, Posey 6.1, Pike County 7.9, Knox 6.7, and unemployment in Gibson County in November was 7.1 percent.
