One hat already in the ring to become the next Sheriff of Gibson County.
Current Sheriff George Ballard said last month he's going to retire at the end of his current term, and a press release issued Thursday by Sheriff's Office Captain Tim Bottoms announced a plan to run for the job in 2014.
The 55 year old Bottoms has been with the Sheriff's Office since in 1987, and the press release said he plans to file a petition for candidacy on the Republican ticket.
