Legislative Session Starts Today  E-mail

The gavel falls in both houses of the Indiana legislature this afternoon as the Republicans take firm control.
Last November's elections gave Republicans a super majority in both the Senate and the House, and political analysts say the biggest job may be staying on track.
Leaders in Indianapolis have said the focus on this, the longer of the two legislative sessions will be budget and economic issues, along with job creation and improving education.
Controversial proposals though, have already been filed, including one that would require a daily recitation of the Lord's Prayer and the teaching of evolution in public schools - and there's that possible second round of voting that moves a gay marriage ban one step closer to being in the state constitution.
