A crash in eastern Pike County Tuesday morning claims the life of a Velpen man. State Police say 54 year old Jerry Alvey was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 8:30 AM. It occurred at the intersection of state roads 64 and 257. Accident reconstructionists say a Toyota driven by 77 year old Joan Pritt of Velpen ran a stop sign at the intersection and pulled into the path of a semi. The resulting impact pushed the trailer left of center and into the path of the Ford Mustang driven by Alvey. Pritt was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital. The driver of the truck, 48 year old Leonard Gogel of Birdseye, was not injured.
