GED Will Get Harder  E-mail

If you or someone you know is trying to get a G-E-D, the exam to do so is about to get more difficult if you don‘t pass it this year.
Starting January 1, 2014, the level of difficulty for the General Education Development exam will go up.
The Department of Workforce Development administers the GED in Indiana, and the department‘s Joe Frank says the exam is changing to bring it in line with Common Core educational standards. Indiana is one of 45 states that are part of the Common Core, and those who have passed a portion, but not all of the current GED exam must pass it in its entirety by the end of 2013. Otherwise, they will have to start over from scratch with the new, more difficult exam.
The hope is that the more rigorous GED will help those who pass it avoid the need for remediation on core subjects should they wish to attend college or another higher education institution. The GED exam will also be more expensive starting next year.
