NWS Changes Storm Warnings  E-mail

The National Weather Service says they'll be making changes this Spring to wording used when they issue severe weather warnings.
The 'enhanced wording' will say TORNADO - POSSIBLE in a severe thunderstorm warning when that storm has a squall line that frequently produced short-lived tornadoes. Those tornadoes in the past have popped up so fast - that forecasters have been able to give little warning when they do.
When tornadoes warnings are issued - they'll now say whether they are RADAR INDICATED or OBSERVED and rarely the public will see a warning with the phrase DAMAGE THREAT. This is reserved for a super-cell tornado that's gotten real-time visual confirmation.
The changes will go into effect April 1st.
