An encouraging jobs report for Indiana. The Department of Workforce Development says the state's unemployment rate dropped to 8.3% in May, compared to 8.5% in April. The agency says the private sector added 9,000 jobs last month, the most since February 2012. The state's jobless rate though is still higher than the national average of 7.6%. Unemployment in area counties: Knox, 6.7 percent. Posey, 7.3, Vanderburgh, 7.8, Pike 8.2 and unemployment last month in Gibson County was 7 percent.
