Monday could be decision day for the Gibson County Fairgrounds Improvement project. Fair board members are seeking a 5 and a half million dollar TIF funding request from the Redevelopment Commission to renovate infrastructure and build new facilities - about two thirds of the plan's total cost. The details of the project were presented to commission members at their meeting last month, and members tabled the decision to March - that meeting was supposed to be this past Monday - but it was postponed when county offices were closed because of the weather. Included in the plans are a convention center to replace open-air concession stands, a new 4-H building, and other improvements that would being the fairgrounds up to standards needed to serve as an emergency center by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
