Spring arrives in a wet way. National Weather Service Forecasters have placed most of the area under either a flood warning or a flash flood warning because of the heavy rainfall, saying the significant rain that fell overnight left rising waters in many areas. In fact, the Indiana Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 64 to the east. Reports from IN-DOT say floodwaters are over the interstate, and it's now closed between the mile markers 86 and 63 - that's in Perry County. Evansville among the cities hit especially hard with the rainfall, with over 5 inches recorded at the airport, and several roads are closed and neighborhoods are flooded there. Here in Princeton we received 2.75 inches of rain, and in fact Dispatchers here in Gibson County report no drivers getting caught in the high waters that we experienced here.
