The lawsuit filed against Pike County Schools by a former principal has been dismissed. Rick Fears filed a wrongful termination suit in federal court against the school corporation after he was dismissed as principal at Otwell Elementary. He claimed in the suit that his rights were violated because he wasn't able to challenge the school board during an administrative hearing where evidence was presented that he didn't perform teacher evaluations, falsified attendance records and violated student privacy laws. The Times-Herald reports U-S District Judge Richard Young Wednesday threw out the suit, saying the decision by Pike County Schools to cancel his contract was lawful and supported by substantial evidence.
