SEPT 4 -7 LABOR DAY CELEBRATION, PETERSBURG, INDIANA
The 129th Labor Day Celebration will be held at Hornady Park, Pike County Fairgrounds, in Petersburg, Indiana, Friday, September 4th through Monday, September 7th. The 4-day event is a call for solidarity to all local unions to gather on Labor Day to honor all working men and women of the tri-state area. Entrance to the fairgrounds and parking are FREE and shuttle service from the parking lot will be available for all events. Attractions at this year’s celebration include the Queen Pageant and Free Open Karaoke Night on Friday, Moto Cross on Saturday, and the popular Demolition Derby on Sunday. Other events include the cutest pet contest, cutest baby contest, car show, poker run, talent show, gospel sing and featured speaker, Lisa Phillips, PhD, professor of history at Indiana State University. Vendor displays, food booths, and amusement rides are available throughout the holiday weekend with the area’s largest parade on Labor Day. SEPTEMBER 11, DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING PHOTOS FOR CONTEST
The Princeton Business & Retail Merchants Association announces that Friday, September 11, 2015 is the deadline for entries in the “Picture Perfect Pet” Photo Contest and the “Little Babe” Contest which will take place September 18-20 during the 2015 Heritage Days in downtown Princeton. Each contest has an entry fee of $5.00 due at time of entry, and each contest will be limited to 24 entries. All contestants must be residents of Gibson County and should submit a photo no larger than 5”x7”. Little Babe contestants may be up to 36 months of age. Winners will be calculated by a penny per vote and trophies will be awarded to the top three vote-getters in each contest. Winners will be announced on September 23rd and all submitted photos may be picked up at First Place Trophies & Awards after the announcement. Entry forms can be picked up and returned to First Place Trophies and Awards, 1595 E. State Road 64, Princeton or the Gibson County Chamber of Commerce, 202 E. Broadway, Princeton.
