Wanted Princeton Man Dies After Altercation with ISP

State Police say the Princeton man shot during an officer-involved shooting in Vincennes last night died at the hospital from his injuries.
35 year old David Zimmerman was wanted for parole violation, and troopers had received a tip that he was in the Vincennes area.
A report from state police indicates Zimmerman was spotted pulling a truck into the parking lot of the Chuckles Convenience Store on Old Decker Road just before 9 PM.
When Troopers in unmarked vehicles pulled in behind his truck. Zimmerman placed his vehicle in reverse and collided into the front of one of those cars. Those troopers were forced to open fire when Zimmerman reportedly reached for a weapon. He died from those wounds at Good Samaritan hospital afterwards.
A search of the vehicle revealed a handgun.
Zimmerman was on probation as part of a sentence handed down in 2006 after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter – and was charged with escape after he failed to show for a hearing on a motion seeking to revoke his probation – with prosecutors adding he intentionally removed his electronic monitoring device. He’d been missing since December 22nd.
