Two Deaths in Pike County:
Indiana Conservation officers say 2 12 year olds in Pike County are dead after falling through ice covering a pond near Winslow Thursday.
The boy and girl were apparently under water for about 30 minutes before being rescued by a conservation officer diver. They were then taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper where they died of their injuries.
Autopsies are scheduled for Saturday, but no foul play is suspected. Authorities have not released their names pending notification of relatives.
The two were believed to be playing on the ice when it gave way. DNR officials reminded the public in their statement after the incident that it takes at least 4 inches of ice to support the weight of a person, and that no lake ice should be considered safe.
Conspiracy to Escape from Jail:
The man facing murder charges from an alleged domestic incident in Princeton in October may have been planning an escape from jail.
26 year old Lance Z. Marley was charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend Lindsey Fleck on Princeton’s west side – and has been lodged in the Gibson County Jail since.
Authorities had been monitoring communications that he’d been making with his father from jail, and Thursday went to serve a search warrant at his father’s home in Vincennes.
They were reportedly looking for a series of letters he’d sent to his father, but what they found in the home of Joseph Marley, was about 150 pot plants in a marijuana growing operation.
Joseph Marley now in custody in Knox county on charges of marijuana possession with intent and conspiracy to commit escape.
